For the third year running, Hectare is partnering BeCraft and awarding a ‘Coup de Pouce’ prize to two artists in the Tremplin competition. Each year, this competition brings together the end-of-study work of around fifty graduates from a dozen art schools in Wallonia and Brussels.
Hectare congratulates Agnès Gibon and Vincent Doreau.
We were particularly moved by the work of Agnès Gibon, who humbly restores meaning to the artisanal gesture and to exchanges between cultures. Her creations combine aesthetics and symbolic depth, while celebrating the interpersonal relationships that underpin them. A student in textile design at La Cambre, her acclaimed project Entre deux lisières was produced in collaboration with Pauthin Gangbé and Christian Adjêhounou.
Vincent Doreau studied cartooning at the ESA Saint-Luc and has just completed a second degree in ceramics at the Beaux-Arts Academy in St-Gilles. We were seduced by his series of amphoras, which take us back in time by boldly reinterpreting shapes and codes from different eras of design and craft. He allows himself to mix disciplines, meticulously decorating his pieces with motifs in the manner of a textile designer or illustrator.
